Cash App has fraud issues

I guess I am just inept, but I had nothing but headaches attempting to get started in Coinbase. I mean to say, I really really gave it my best. And when I finally got my account, they came back and asked for state ID. I photo'd my DL. "not good enough." I photo'd it again. Not good enough. send photo of yourself too. I did. Still no good. This photo ain't clear enough. Again and again.

I think at some point we are all gonna hafta do this. And I just never imagined it to be this challenging. The tip about CashApp I am gonna give that a try, jaders. Let's see. Wish I had done this years ago in the early days of BTC. Also, I would be a trillionaire now, which would make this less aggravating.......

@jaders ok, i know i sound stupid, but i downloaded cash app and it was easy enough, but that's not crytpo is it? i thought it was more like zelle? does cash app have a crypto pay feature, would "cash app" be a place to park crytpo (like i hear them say 'wallet') . I know, i sound like a moron

Be careful with Cash App
why is that Veejur? im feeling old and out of touch!
Cash App has been plagued with fraud issues. Information breaches and people having thier cards used for unauthorized purchases

And I do not believe they have a cryptocurrency feature but could be wrong

I thought bitcoin is all closed down. Didn't they arrest all the Big Wigs?
Too bad some of the places only use bitcoin. I wouldn't know where to start if I decided to use bitcom.

It's still in business but not the creme of the crop in cryptocurrencies

I just cannot believe this can be this difficult. I have tried yet again to register. What is this... nine attempts? Now Gemini. Supposed to be "easy" for beginners. I have a high-end lenovo and I am just not that computer inept. Still no-go on the ID..... No-go on Kraken....

מחמיר

Cashapp does have a crypto feature, but it requires an added amount of id be verified to set it up and use it. I had to send in a pic from either my driver's license or passport along with a personal pic. All of these platforms are subject to being hacked altho I haven't heard anything particularly bad about cashapp, myself. I have heard the most bad things about Zelle tho. The big thing they say is to never send money between these platforms to anyone you don't know. Of course, given the endeavors we are here for, that's hard to stick to. : מבולבל:

I have to say, I still have yet to actually use cashapp to send BTC tho. I also have a coinbase account but have only actually made a vendor purchase with BTC once. Most folks say it's getting it set up that's the hard part. Once it is, it should be much easier. I completely agree that if we're going to continue to access our meds, we're likely going to have to become used to using this way of paying. I think it's probably the safest way for a vendor to stay underground?

בהצלחה, @sleeper! Keep us posted...

so ok, I am now in "pending" status with Gemini. The site itself is pretty simple, but the process, they are incredibly difficult, just with not accepting your ID. All you can do is submit what you have. It seems we are all pushed into the bitcoin business regardless, so best to be prepared.

still hopeful. will report back....

@jaders i did pay one supplier last week cash app. seemed easy enough. gotta figure the bitcoin stuff tho. im intrigued by these folks setting up "burner" bank accounts w minimal amounts just for transfers. this kind of makes sense to me. i reckon that can all be done online w a small transfr from primary account? MAYBE it will be my project after I dig tomato holes today !

I actually have wondered about this - I don't think any code or program can ties things together so well.

But this is pretty similar to what other tech companies have done for years -Google released GOOG411 in 2007, they collected voice recordings and used them to fine tune voice recognition.

Once you get set up with whatever vendor you will use to buy the btc it is pretty easy to buy and send it on a regular basis. The only downside is if you sell it gets reported to the IRS. I have used my debit card thru cashapp with no problems. The fees are a little higher with cashapp, with coinbase it was cheaper but I had to wait a few days before the money would show up in my account. I wish some of the email vendors would start taking btc instead of the money transfer services

ok, I am at "Verified" status with Gemini Exchange. Hooray. I have my checking account linked through Plaid. I am not too concerned about the checking account, as my other banks, transferwise, and brokerages all use Plaid with this account.

I am going to haul over some cash to the exchange and make the BTC purchase. After that, I do have to figure out about the private wallet, which I have never done.....

Just get a private wallet, like electrum (which is free) and immediately move your purchased btc to that spot. From there you can send it to the vendor more safely. There's a great youtube about sending into electrum and also sending out of it as well. The optics of electrum are strange tho. I know there are other private wallets, but I heard electrum to be the most common.

Keep going! You're giving us inspiration...:D

Also if you look on websites that offer cracked mobile applications you can find certain market speculation app with the premium features for free. I usually have like 3-4 and if at least 2 of them are telling me that a coin is likely to see a 50% growth in the next day or two I’ll jump on it. Another app has a whale tracker that alerts you as soon as a large amount of coins has moved wallets, indicating an imminent pump/dump. It’s a lot harder than it used to be though. Up until a few years ago I could make 2-300% gains in a day but it took like 5 hours of work and research.

When I registered on a crypto site, tradestation, it was the same as when I registered on gemini, years ago. You fill out a form similar to when you open a bank account. Gemini is in fact a bank and is regulated as one. You then take a photo of your drivers license, and wait for approval

Those who said the photo was not accepted, did you use an old phone with perhaps a not very high res camera? Or it could be that it didn't fill up the photo, looked too small or something. Or that there was glare upon it which could make parts hard to read? If you can get a friend with a better phone to take the photos, that might work.

Trade station closed my account after I used them a couple times. The "reason" they gave was that I didn't answer several questions they asked me but in fact I did. The email that told me I didn't answer, was a reply to my answer and you could scroll down and see it. They did not cheat me but I can't recommend them

Gemini has always been fine. I started using it about 4 or 5 years ago to buy coin. I forgot I had a little bit left in my account and when I went back last year I had about a dollars worth of btc and about $13k worth of ether which was probably worth only a couple bucks last time I used the account and just forgot about it. I do recommend gemini, I would never use coinbase or most of the others. Localbitcoins shut down from what I hear.
